This will be a short newsletter because I’m honestly at a bit of a loss for what to say. This week has been painful for our country. Personally, I am still grappling with how to effect meaningful change. There is a lot to unpack as someone who benefits from white privilege and is also raising two brown girls. 

I hope you find the resources I’ve included helpful and if you have any resources or ideas you’d like to share, I’d love to hear from you!

 11 Things To Do Besides Say ‘This Has To Stop’ In The Wake Of Police Brutality

One thing on this list that we can all do – vote with our conscience.

There are tons of additional resources for parents regarding talking with kids about race as well as some great resources we can learn from ourselves.

Self-Care

Try making “containers” of time to consume news/social media. Decide which times of day you’re going to spend reading or watching the news or scrolling through social media. Set a 20-minute timer and stop when it goes off.
If nothing else, see if you can avoid news/social media for 2 hours after waking up and 2 hours before going to sleep. This allows you the headspace to determine your own mood for the day and will hopefully help you sleep more soundly at night.
